The Courtyard

The courtyard was remodeled in late 2000, after Marjory Harris moved to the garden. Preserving the space and concrete and the larger trees and shrubs, stonemason Konrad Gauder added yellowstone rock from New Mexico, and Ms. Harris designed the plantings. Ms. Harris merged her collection of potted begonias, streptocarpus and ferns with Mr. Hand's. The rebar tree on the front of the house holds part of Mr. Hand's large epicactus collection, little orchids and bromeliads.
