From the deck there are spectacular views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown San Francisco and Oakland, the Bay Bridge and San Rafael Bridge, Alcatraz and other islands, and the panorama from San Bruno Mountain to Mount Tamalpais and beyond.

Hand incorporated these "borrowed views" into the garden experience. He created gaps in hedges and planted trees to frame the views. He constructed concrete benches and landings throughout the garden from which one can gaze into the distance.
